Composer has the capability to administer loans either as a standalone loan or as a geared investment (ie, a loan linked to an investment administered in Composer). Composer supports fixed interest and floating interest loan types with the loan repayment methods namely 'Credit Foncier' (or Principal & Interest) and 'Interest Only' loans with the option to collect the principal amount in a flexible manner.
The parameters of the loan such as the type of loan, term, rate of interest, etc. are determined by the fund that provides the loan. These parameters apply to all the borrowers drawing a loan from the fund and therefore these are not specific to each loan.
Composer supports calculation of interest on loans, collection of interest and principal repayments through direct debit or other methods from borrowers. Where any repayment due from the borrower is overdue, the account will be flagged as arrears.
Where a loan is tied to an investment (i.e. a geared investment), the return from the investment such as distributions can be optionally applied to the repayments due from the outstanding loan. The shortfall of investment returns over repayments due can then be collected from the investor and if there is an excess of returns over repayments, it will be paid to the investor.
Composer also provides the ability to close an investment product which would payoff the linked loans and return the balance, if any, to the investor or alternatively collect the shortfall from the investor.
